Hello Everyone!!
Sorry this post is a bit late but I've been busy with class and whatnot. This week I went to the Elephant Cafe a.k.a. the birthplace of Harry Potter where J.K. sat and wrote The Philosopher's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets. Needless to say I was super excited to visit.

It was packed, especially for a weekday, but we got our coffee and sat in the back of the cafe. You could really understand how J.K. was inspired to create Hogwarts with a view overlooking the castle and cobblestone streets of Edinburgh.
While the cafe had not been significantly changed since it gained fame from the success of the Harry Potter books, the bathrooms were allowed to serve as a sort of shrine to all of the fans that visited. I know it sounds super corny but reading all of the stories and notes people wrote as well as adding one of my own was quite moving. Here of some examples of the graffiti, it covered every inch of the bathrooms.

I was awesome. I'm sure I'll be back to pay this spot another couple visits during my time here. After that we wandered around the Royal Mile up to the castle, with bagpipes playing in the back of course.
Now an amazing thing happened... sunshine! I actually got to use the sunglasses I'd brought from home! It also made for a really cool shot of the castle's silhouette.

The mountain on the left is actually Arthur's Seat, you can make out the rocky cliffs that we saw on our way up.
In other news, Scottish Kate is putting on a proper Burns Night for the flat Monday while I am in charge of hosting a good ol' American Super-Bowl Sunday in February! We are becoming quite multi-cultural flat, if I do say so myself.
I hope everyone is staying warm and doing well!
Love From,
Kate
